BeZero Carbon and Korea Exchange Partner to Build Quality Checks for South Korea's Voluntary Carbon Market
carbonherald.comBeZero Carbon has signed an MOU with the Korea Exchange (KRX) to support South Korea's voluntary carbon market. KRX will use BeZero's AAA-to-D ratings platform to screen carbon credits and evaluate domestic greenhouse gas reduction projects before they enter trading channels. The goal is to keep low-quality offsets out of the market and give buyers a standardized way to compare risk. The partnership aligns with South Korea's broader push to formalize voluntary carbon trading, including the Korean Voluntary Carbon Market Alliance and proposed legislation on credit issuance and oversight. With the country already running a mandatory emissions trading scheme, the new framework is meant to build a credible voluntary market alongside it. Independent ratings at the exchange level could set a useful example for other Asian markets looking to scale carbon trading without repeating the trust problems seen elsewhere.
