Carbon credit ratings agency BeZero Carbon has acquired Cedar, an AI-powered climate data startup. The deal aims to improve due diligence tools on BeZero's platform, making it easier for market participants to assess carbon credit quality. Cedar, founded in 2025, automates carbon accounting, emissions reporting, and renewable energy analysis. Its three co-founders will join BeZero. The acquisition comes as demand for expert carbon ratings grows, with BeZero expecting EU regulation later this year. For carbon market participants, this means more accessible tools to vet projects and reduce risk. BeZero already offers ratings, geospatial data, and an AI assistant. Cedar's tech should expand those self-service capabilities.
