Belfast's LQ BID is pushing a sustainability agenda that ties climate goals to social equity. The RE[act] Festival, running from 9-15 November 2026, brings together businesses and community leaders to focus on living wages, affordable transport, and community wealth sharing. The group has already helped 31 employers adopt the Real Living Wage, adding an estimated £2 million in annual wages. They also co-funded research that led to a £650,000 pilot for late-night buses and are lobbying for better active travel routes. A £20,000 community fund and volunteering program have engaged over 400 participants in local projects. The message: sustainability only works if it improves people's daily lives, not just carbon metrics.
