Bedford College Group cuts carbon emissions 20% in a year, 43% since 2018-19
northamptonchron.co.ukThe Bedford College Group reduced its carbon emissions by 20% in the 2025-26 academic year, bringing total emissions to 2,131 tCO2e. That continues a longer trend: emissions are down 43% since the group started monitoring in 2018-19, and down 56% on a like-for-like basis that accounts for estate growth. The group now operates multiple campuses across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, so the cuts happened while the estate expanded. Beyond campus operations, the group is embedding green skills into its curriculum, including low-carbon construction, energy-efficient engineering, electric vehicle technology, and sustainable procurement. College leadership says sustainability is now part of what learners take into the workforce. The results are backed by a published Carbon Reduction Plan, giving the numbers a paper trail.
