BBVA has reached 99% renewable electricity use globally, utilizing a mix of power purchase agreements, energy certificates, and on-site solar generation. The bank is now implementing a new eco-efficiency plan for 2026 to 2030 to further reduce operational emissions and improve building certifications. Beyond direct operations, BBVA uses an internal carbon price of 32 euros per ton to drive decarbonization. The bank also focuses on its financed emissions, which constitute 99% of its total carbon footprint, by setting sector-specific transition targets.
