BBVA Backs WEF CEO Letter Calling for Faster Decarbonization and Climate Finance Before COP31
bbva.comBBVA has signed on to a World Economic Forum letter backed by CEOs and chairs ahead of COP31 in Türkiye. The letter tells governments that the low-carbon transition is a strategic opportunity, but says delivery is the main obstacle. It calls for stable policy frameworks, more climate finance for developing economies, modern grids, carbon pricing, and high-integrity carbon markets. BBVA chair Carlos Torres Vila endorsed the statement, and the bank is also the global banking partner for COP31, which runs in Antalya from November 9 to 20. The alliance says member companies cut emissions about 9 percent from 2019 to 2024 while revenue grew more than 13 percent. It also projects the climate and environmental solutions market could reach $7.1 trillion by 2030.
