BASF Wins Recycling Awards for Polyamide 6 Processes, Chases Evonik and AI Data Center Materials
ad-hoc-news.deBASF took home two industry awards for its polyamide 6 recycling work. The MATERIALICA Award 2026 in carbon-dioxide-efficiency and second place in the sustainability category at the Fakuma Innovation Award 2026 recognized two in-house processes, one based on depolymerisation and one on solvent-based recycling. Both are aimed at closing the loop on nylon and lowering the carbon footprint of plastics processing, a selling point as customers ask for certified recyclate and environmental rules tighten. The recycling recognition is part of a wider shift at the chemicals group. BASF is also focusing its Ultrason line on electronics for AI data centers, high-speed internet, and electric mobility, and it launched GLYTHERMIN, a heat-transfer fluid for liquid-cooled data centers. On the corporate side, BASF is reportedly open to raising its offer for Evonik only after reviewing the target's books, and Bernstein kept an Outperform rating ahead of BASF's third-quarter report on 28 October. For anyone tracking industrial decarbonization, the key detail to watch is whether the recycling processes scale with genuinely clean energy and deliver measurable CO2 savings per ton of recyclate.
