Base Carbon's Rwanda Cookstove Project Gets 639,609 More CORSIA-Eligible Carbon Credits
stocktitan.netBase Carbon announced that Verra has tagged 639,609 previously issued carbon credits from its Rwanda cookstoves project as CORSIA-eligible for the 2024-2026 compliance phase. That brings the project's total CORSIA-eligible credits to nearly 1.96 million. The company expects about 2.6 million additional credits at six-month intervals for the rest of the crediting period, with all projected to be CORSIA-eligible. The credits use the VM0050 cookstove methodology, and Base Carbon is in sale processes for multiple credit batches. This matters because CORSIA-eligible credits are in demand from airlines required to offset emissions under the UN aviation program. The announcement signals that the project is delivering verified credits with a compliance-grade label, which strengthens its market position but does not guarantee any completed sale yet.
