Base Carbon's Rwanda Cookstove Credits Receive CORSIA Tagging for Aviation Compliance Use
globenewswire.comVerra has tagged 639,609 previously issued carbon credits from Base Carbon's Rwanda cookstoves project as eligible under CORSIA's first phase, covering 2024 through 2026. That brings the project's total CORSIA-eligible inventory to 1,959,812 credits. The project uses the VM0050 cookstove methodology and is expected to generate roughly 2.6 million additional credits at six month intervals for the rest of its crediting period. Base Carbon says it expects those future credits to also become CORSIA-eligible. CORSIA eligibility matters because it lets airlines use these credits toward emissions compliance obligations. Base Carbon is running multiple sale processes for the credits, but the release does not name buyers or disclose pricing.
