Base Carbon Receives Fifth Verra Issuance of Rwanda Cookstoves Project Carbon Credits
manilatimes.netBase Carbon announced that Verra completed the fifth issuance of carbon credits from its Rwanda cookstoves project. The batch adds 387,015 credits from a seven month monitoring period, bringing the project total to 2,346,827 CORSIA-eligible credits if the new credits receive the expected tagging. The credits are held by project partner DelAgua under the revenue sharing arrangement. The company expects the credits to be included in Rwanda's 2026 Biennial Transparency Report, which would let Verra tag them as CORSIA-eligible without insurance. That matters because it cuts costs and raises net proceeds on sale. Base Carbon also says future issuances should come at roughly six month intervals and add about 2.2 million more credits over the rest of the crediting period. The main open questions are whether Rwanda actually includes the credits in its BTR, whether Verra applies the CORSIA tag without insurance, and what price the credits fetch in current sale processes.
