BANPU subsidiary BKV completed the acquisition of Barnett Shale upstream, midstream, and carbon capture assets in Texas on September 15, 2026. The package includes more than 65 MMcf/day of production, about 0.35 Tcfe of proved developed producing reserves, roughly 117,000 net acres, and about 1,000 operated wells. It also adds an operated CCS project that captured over 100,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, along with gas processing and gathering infrastructure. The deal strengthens BKV's integrated natural gas and carbon capture position in the Barnett Shale. The company says the assets will improve utilization of shared infrastructure and increase gas supply to the Dallas-Fort Worth and Gulf Coast markets. Transaction value was not disclosed.

The CCS piece is the part that matters for this site, but the press release doesn't say what the CO2 is used for or how much is stored permanently. 100k tonnes per year is small next to the gas volumes. Anyone know if this is EOR or dedicated storage?
