Exactly my first thought. 25 crore trees over 5 years is about 50 million trees. Even at generous sequestration rates per tree you are looking at maybe 5-10 million tons of CO2 per year at peak. At $10-20 per ton that is $50-200M not $1B. The math seems off unless they are counting something else.

Biggest risk here is additionality and permanence. A five year planting program needs decades of maintenance to actually sequester carbon. If trees die or get cut down those credits get reversed. Bangladesh has a lot of experience with tree planting but long term monitoring is the hard part.
