Bangladesh's Power Division has teamed up with HSBC and the Carbon Trust to launch a National Energy Study for Bangladesh. The study will assess the country's current energy landscape, project future electricity demand, and evaluate how renewable energy, energy storage, and other low-carbon technologies can support economic growth and energy security. It is meant to inform government planning and identify pathways for attracting foreign direct investment into clean energy. Led by the Power Division's Renewable Energy Wing, the initiative brings together government ministries, HSBC, and the Carbon Trust. The partners say the research will include stakeholder engagement and capacity building, with the aim of producing a practical roadmap for a more affordable and resilient power sector. HSBC is backing the study through its climate and energy transition work with governments, while the Carbon Trust is contributing expertise on fossil transition, grid modernization, and renewable integration.
