Varaha and SAF Bangladesh have issued over 60,000 carbon credits from 160 demonstration farms. This marks the first time agroforestry credits in Bangladesh have been issued under Verra's Verified Carbon Standard, focusing on high-density mango plantations and degraded land restoration. The project aims to scale to 30,000 hectares, using carbon finance to support smallholder farmers during the initial growth years of perennial crops. This model provides a revenue stream for farmers while improving climate resilience and land use efficiency in the region.
