Bangalore Watch Company has released the Peninsula Carbon, a limited edition watch featuring a dial made from ReforgeCarbon. This material is a composite of forged carbon fiber and recycled carbon black recovered from industrial waste through pyrolysis. The design incorporates a visual reference to urban air quality indices, using a color scale from green to red on the minute track. The watch uses a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement and is limited to 100 pieces.

Interesting use of carbon black from pyrolysis. It is a small scale application, but using industrial waste for high end goods is a decent way to show the material has value beyond the landfill.
The real question is the feedstock. If this is coming from tire pyrolysis or plastic waste, the emissions profile of the processing matters more than the final product being a watch.
The material science here is more interesting than the watch itself. I wonder if Carbon Craft is scaling this for industrial components or if it is just for boutique accessories.
