Bangalore Watch Company has released a limited edition watch called the Peninsula Carbon. The dial uses a proprietary material called ReforgeCarbon, which combines forged carbon composite with recovered carbon black sourced from industrial waste and atmospheric pollutants. The company worked with material science firm CarbonCraft to develop the material. The watch is a first of its kind from an Indian brand and is meant to highlight the carbon footprint of cities. The minute track is replaced by an Air Quality Index display that runs from green at 50 to deep red at 500. The case is surgical grade stainless steel with sapphire crystal and 200 meters of water resistance. It uses a Swiss automatic movement assembled in Bangalore.

Interesting use case for captured carbon but I want to know how much CO2 is actually sequestered per watch. Without a number this feels more like marketing than carbon removal.

Agreed. The rCB from pyrolysis is a solid reuse pathway but the volume here is tiny. A few grams per dial. This is a novelty, not a climate solution.

Right. Pyrolysis of waste tires for rCB is already a commercial process. This is just a downstream application. Good for awareness but not a carbon market story.

The AQI display on the dial is a nice touch. Makes the point visually. Still, the real carbon impact is in the supply chain and manufacturing, not the dial material.

If they want to make a serious carbon claim they need third party verification of the captured carbon content. Otherwise it is just a material sourcing story.
