Asthalaxmi Innovations has signed an MoU to develop a 15,000-hectare bamboo plantation in Northeast India. The project targets 5 million tCO2e sequestration and 5 million carbon credits over five years. Partners include Earthtree Enviro (for MRV and registration) and Jeev Anksh Eco Products (for plantation operations). The first phase covers 3,000 hectares and aims for 1 million credits in five years. The project will use native bamboo species and work with local communities through FPOs and SHGs. It is planned to run for up to 40 years. Carbon credits will be issued under Verra or Gold Standard, with Earthbanc's subsidiary handling the process. The project aligns with SDG goals and targets degraded land restoration.
