Balkrishna Industries completes INR 800 crore carbon black expansion boosting capacity to 360,000 MTPA
businessupturn.comBalkrishna Industries has finished a major carbon black expansion project, raising its annual capacity from 200,000 to 360,000 metric tons. The INR 800 crore investment was funded through internal accruals. The company also expanded its power plant from 40 MW to 64 MW with an additional INR 125 crore. Both projects are part of the firm's 2030 growth strategy and share common infrastructure to improve operational efficiency. Carbon black is a key material in tire manufacturing and other industrial applications. The expansion comes at a time when demand for low-carbon industrial materials is growing. Balkrishna's existing capacity was running at 91% utilization before the expansion, indicating strong market demand. The integrated power plant upgrade also helps reduce the carbon footprint of the production process by using on-site power generation.
