Avaada Proposes 1,500 TPD Green Ammonia Plant at Gopalpur, Odisha, with Focus on Storage and Ports
energetica-india.netAvaada Group has announced plans to build a 1,500 tons per day green ammonia facility at Gopalpur in Odisha. The project was highlighted by Chairman Vineet Mittal at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit, where he argued that Odisha can shift from exporting raw minerals to manufacturing low-carbon steel, aluminium, and green fuels for global markets. He stressed that reliable round-the-clock renewable power, supported by battery storage and pumped hydro, is essential for energy-intensive industries. Mittal also pointed to the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism as a driver for low-carbon products. He called for faster development of pumped storage projects, better transmission connectivity, and a single-window clearance system to attract investment. The proposal ties into Odisha's existing port infrastructure at Gopalpur, Paradip, and Dhamra, positioning the state as a potential hub for green molecules. The project is still at the proposal stage, with no timeline or financial details disclosed.
