InfraBuild's Laverton steel mill in Melbourne has become the first in Australia to power more than half of its operations with renewable energy. By using an electric arc furnace and a new wind energy deal, the facility is reducing the carbon footprint of its steel production. The company aims to reach 100 percent renewable power by 2030 and is exploring biomethane to replace natural gas in its heating processes. This shift addresses embodied carbon in the construction industry, where steel production is a major source of emissions.
