Australia launches national Low Carbon Liquid Fuels Knowledge Hub for transport and shipping
safety4sea.comAustralia has set up a national Low Carbon Liquid Fuels Knowledge Hub to compile information on biofuels and synthetic fuels for transport and shipping. The government contributed A$162,500, and Queensland University of Technology runs it. The goal is to give industry and the public a single place to learn about feedstocks, lifecycle emissions, and supply chains for fuels that can replace diesel, jet fuel, and marine fuel. The hub arrives as shipping looks for alternatives that work with existing bunkering and storage systems. Biofuels and e-fuels made from renewable hydrogen and captured CO2 are on the table, but their climate impact depends heavily on how they are produced. Having a clear source of information on certification and emissions is useful, though production capacity and cost remain open questions.
