Australia is implementing a new policy framework to build a domestic low carbon liquid fuels industry. The strategy combines a A$1.1 billion Cleaner Fuels Program for production capacity with new demand-side measures to encourage the use of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel in transport. Industry leaders like GrainCorp aim to process more canola domestically rather than exporting it raw. By creating a sovereign supply chain, Australia intends to improve fuel security and increase the economic value of its agricultural feedstocks while meeting decarbonization goals.
