Australia launches $1.7 million Green Fuels Accelerator for sustainable aviation fuel projects
corowafreepress.com.auAustralia's Green Fuels Accelerator pilot program has launched with $1.7 million in funding to help seven low-carbon fuel projects reach construction. The program, backed by ARENA, Qantas, and Boeing, targets sustainable aviation fuel production from agricultural waste and ethanol. Most projects are in Queensland, with one each in Western Australia and NSW. The accelerator provides regulatory, technical, and financial support to first-of-a-kind fuel projects. Global sustainable aviation fuel production remains below 1% of airline fuel in 2026, according to IATA data. Qantas has committed to 10% sustainable fuel by 2030. ARENA CEO Darren Miller said Australia has abundant feedstocks and research capability but needs help moving projects to commercial scale.
