ATOME PLC has reached a final investment decision for a 665 million dollar low-carbon fertilizer plant in Villeta, Paraguay. The facility will produce 260,000 tonnes of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate annually, utilizing 100% renewable hydropower to decouple fertilizer production from fossil fuel volatility. The project is backed by a consortium of international lenders and investors, including the IFC and the European Investment Bank. With a 10 year offtake agreement with Yara International, the plant aims to reduce regional emissions by 500,000 tonnes of CO2e per year and strengthen food security in the Mercosur region.
