Aster DM Quality Care and Oyster Renewable Energy have commissioned a 10 MW ground-mounted solar project in Kasargod, Kerala, to power Aster Medcity. The plant uses bifacial modules and is expected to generate around 17.7 million units of electricity per year, covering more than 90% of the hospital's energy demand through captive supply. This first phase is part of a larger commissioning plan, with the project held under Oyster Green Hybrid Two Private Ltd, where Aster Group has a 26% stake and has invested ₹3.87 crore. The facility is projected to cut roughly 23,138 metric tonnes of CO2 annually. For a 24/7 operation like a hospital, solar alone cannot cover night loads, so the remaining demand still depends on grid power or other sources. Still, this is a concrete example of an energy-intensive healthcare facility shifting to on-site renewable generation, and it highlights how captive solar projects can reduce grid reliance for large institutional consumers in India.
