Asian Paints Bangladesh has switched on an 850 kWp rooftop solar array at its factory in the National Special Economic Zone. The system covers about 7,000 square meters of roof and is expected to generate roughly 1,440 MWh of clean electricity per year, offsetting an estimated 724 metric tons of CO2 annually. The project uses an OPEX model, so the company avoids upfront capital costs while locking in lower power rates. During peak daylight hours, the solar installation can cover up to 70 percent of the plant's electricity demand, which should cut the factory's grid dependence and reduce its electricity bills by 20 to 25 percent. The NSEZ currently hosts 15 operating industries with 20 more under construction, making this a useful data point for how manufacturing zones can integrate on-site renewables without disrupting production.
