Artist Ashley Cluer has created the world's first sculpture made from evoZero, a near-zero carbon captured cement produced by Heidelberg Materials. The cement uses carbon capture and storage technology at its Brevik, Norway plant rather than relying on offsets. The sculpture was commissioned for Clerkenwell Design Week 2026 and has since been acquired for Heidelberg's permanent collection. Cluer's practice focuses on industrial materials like cement, plaster, and timber. She describes the evoZero material as genuinely pioneering because the carbon is captured at source. The piece is designed as a conversation starter about low-carbon construction materials and their real-world applications. The sculpture is currently on display at Techspace in London before moving to a permanent site.
