The company uses a laser process to inject carbon nano material into copper and aluminum, cutting heat generation and allowing more power to flow through existing wires. Arcturus says its material can cut grid energy lost as heat by up to half, with an additional power supply effect of about 3 percent on average and up to 10 percent during peak load hours. The seed round was led by Initialized Capital, with Toyota Ventures and Breakthrough Energy Discovery also participating. The company is targeting early applications in drones, robots, and data centers rather than large-scale transmission lines. It claims the material is a drop in replacement for standard copper and aluminum, meaning manufacturers can use it without redesigning systems or retraining workers. Arcturus currently produces proof-of-concept wires measured in centimeters and plans to use the funds to scale production to tens of meters and test in components like electric motor windings and busbars. If the technology works at scale, it could offer a practical way to reduce grid losses and improve efficiency in data centers and EVs without major infrastructure changes.
