Arcadis has completed Cambridge South Station, one of the UK's first net zero carbon railway stations. The project includes a green roof, wildflower meadows, over 1,000 cycle spaces, and no on-site car parking. It achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and aims to set a new standard for sustainable rail infrastructure in the UK. The station serves the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and the city's growing southern fringe. Arcadis handled design, engineering, planning, and environmental services. The project also expanded a local nature reserve and added sustainable drainage to protect endangered species like water voles.
