ARA publishes carbon reporting guidance for North American equipment rental industry
internationalrentalnews.comThe American Rental Association has released carbon reporting guidance for equipment rental companies in North America. It adapts the European Rental Association model and covers Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions with formulas, data sources, and step-by-step instructions. The guidance comes with a GHG estimation database so companies can estimate equipment emissions when primary data is not available. The tool is meant to help rental firms respond to customer and government requests for carbon data without needing perfect records. ARA says the equipment lifecycle, from OEM production to resale, accounts for roughly 80 percent of a typical rental company's footprint, which is the hardest part to measure. The guidance is available in English imperial, English metric, and French.
