Anortech Inc. has entered a one year research collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada to develop next generation alumina based catalysts for CO2 capture. The project aims to create amine functionalized alumina adsorbents that can capture carbon dioxide and convert it to methane through hydrogenation. Anortech is supplying sustainable alumina from its Gronne Bjerg anorthosite project in Greenland and jointly funding the research. The NRC will focus on maximizing adsorption capacity, selectivity, and stability under real world conditions like varying temperatures and humidity. The goal is to identify breakthrough formulations ready for large scale carbon capture deployment. This builds on 2025 testing where Anortech supplied multiple grades of alumina to the NRC. The company is also advancing zero waste smelter grade alumina and high purity alumina production.
