Anglesey solar farm cable route approved with archaeological trenching to protect potential Roman camp
dailypost.co.ukLow Carbon's Parc Solar Traffwll, a 30-40MW solar farm on Anglesey, has taken a step forward after the council approved a 2.5km underground cable route connecting the site to the grid. The route crosses farmland near the A55 rather than running along local roads, reducing disruption for residents and businesses. The change also cuts about 2km of installation work from public highways, with drilling under Minffordd Road to keep it open. Because the area includes known or potential heritage sites, the council required targeted archaeological trial trenching near Caer Elen Farm, where historic maps suggest a possible Roman camp. An archaeologist will also monitor the whole off-road cable section, with any remains investigated under a scheme agreed with Heneb. The project is expected to power around 11,600 homes once connected.
