Anew Climate and EKEN Partner to Bring Swedish Improved Forest Management Credits to Corporate Buyers
carbonherald.comAnew Climate has signed a ten-year deal to be the exclusive commercialization partner for EKEN's improved forest management credits from Sweden. The credits come from forest owners who defer harvest and get paid for the extra CO2 stored, using Verra's VM0045 methodology. Anew will handle buyer engagements and portfolio integration for European and international corporate clients. First credit issuances are expected in Q4 2027, with 30,000 to 65,000 credits projected between 2027 and 2031. VM0045 v1.2 is one of the first IFM methodologies approved for the Integrity Council's CCP label, which could make these credits more attractive to buyers with strict sourcing requirements. EKEN aims to grow volumes as more landowners enroll.
