Andhra Pradesh smart streetlight project: 7.5 lakh LED lights by March 2027
newindianexpress.comAndhra Pradesh is replacing 10.5 lakh conventional streetlights across urban local bodies with smart LED fixtures. The first phase targets 7.5 lakh installations by March 2027, delivered with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). Agreements are already signed with over 120 ULBs, and Visakhapatnam is the priority city for early completion. The smart lighting system connects each unit to a central monitoring dashboard with GIS asset tracking, real-time status, and automated fault alerts. State officials project annual savings of 19.57 million units of electricity, along with lower municipal energy bills and reduced urban carbon emissions. The rollout is part of a broader push to make Andhra Pradesh's urban infrastructure more climate-resilient.
