Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched a major push for net-zero living under the Swachh Andhra-Swarna Andhra initiative. The program includes foundation stones for civic projects worth Rs 15,274 crore across 120 urban local bodies and the inauguration of eight waste-to-energy plants. The state aims to become garbage-free by October 2 through door-to-door waste collection using electric autos and expanded waste management infrastructure. Aspirational is right. Net-zero living at household level needs more than speeches. You need building codes, appliance efficiency standards, and maybe a carbon pricing signal. Otherwise it is just a slogan.
