Anaergia Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility Earns Negative Carbon Intensity Score
wastetodaymagazine.comAnaergia's Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility has become the first U.S. based RNG plant to receive a negative carbon intensity score from Canada's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. This designation allows the facility to generate credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations. The facility uses anaerobic digestion to process over 100,000 tons of organic waste annually. By capturing methane that would otherwise escape from landfills, the plant prevents approximately 40,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions each year.
