Anaergia Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility Earns Canada's First US-Based Negative Carbon Intensity Score
stocktitan.netAnaergia's Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility (RIBF) has become the first US-based renewable natural gas plant to receive a temporary negative carbon intensity score under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations. This designation allows the facility to generate CFR credits by capturing methane from organic waste that would otherwise enter the atmosphere from landfills. The facility is the largest anaerobic digester in New England, processing over 100,000 tons of organic waste annually. By diverting food scraps and organic materials, the plant prevents more than 40,000 metric tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions per year while producing RNG and nutrient-rich soil residuals.
