Ireland's national postal service, An Post, has reached its goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50 percent compared to 2009 levels. The company achieved this target in September 2025, beating its original deadline. This progress comes despite a 27 percent increase in parcel volumes, showing a decoupling of business growth from emissions. The reduction was driven primarily by the electrification of the delivery fleet and a shift to green energy for buildings. Currently, 55 percent of the fleet uses alternative fuels, and 99 percent of the company's facilities are powered by renewable energy.
