Amsterdam has implemented a new policy banning advertisements for high-carbon products in city-owned public spaces. The ban targets billboards and public transport ads for meat, gas-powered vehicles, flights, and cruises to help the city reach its net-zero emissions goal by 2050. While the restrictions apply to public infrastructure, advertisements are still permitted on private property and digital platforms. The city council aims to shift consumer behavior toward plant-based diets and low-carbon transport to reduce the urban environmental footprint.
