AMP Clean Energy has submitted plans to install a battery storage system, referred to as a battery box, in Wenvoe, Wales. The system is designed to charge during periods of high renewable energy production and discharge during peak demand to reduce reliance on fossil fuel power plants. Unlike large-scale storage projects, these compact units connect directly to local low-voltage networks. This approach allows for deployment in suburban or industrial areas where larger wind or solar farms are not feasible. The applicant estimates the project will save roughly 160 tonnes of carbon annually.
