Amcor and Dow team up to scale low carbon packaging for Scope 3 goals
interplasinsights.comAmcor and Dow announced a collaboration aimed at helping brands and retailers adopt low carbon packaging without redesigning products or adding new infrastructure. The partnership combines Amcor's packaging manufacturing reach with Dow's low carbon polyethylene and materials science expertise, targeting Scope 3 emissions that often make up the largest share of a company's carbon footprint. At the center is the Carbon Footprint Ledger, a methodology based on mass balance accounting and aligned with ISO 14067 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Standard. The companies say the approach provides independently assured product carbon footprint data and uses market-based mechanisms to reduce adoption risk and create clearer demand signals. The focus is on making low carbon polyethylene a true drop-in solution for existing packaging lines.
