Amazon, Stella McCartney, and Canopy launch Fashion Coalition to scale sustainable materials and cut supply chain emissions
fashionunited.ukAmazon, Stella McCartney, and Canopy have co-founded The Climate Pledge Fashion Coalition, bringing together over 60 fashion brands, manufacturers, and retailers to accelerate the shift to lower-carbon supply chains. The group aims to tackle the core problem: sustainable materials and processes are too expensive or fragmented to compete with conventional options at scale. By combining collective demand, blended financing, and practical tools like the Fashion Coalition Lever Library, the initiative wants to move innovative fibers and manufacturing technologies from pilot to commercial reality before 2040. The coalition also works with the World Economic Forum to structure de-risked financing that lets material innovators secure long-term volume commitments, helping them price closer to mainstream levels. It will connect members with vetted next-generation fibers and manufacturing methods that cut water use, chemicals, and emissions. The goal is to show policymakers real-world evidence that production-stage innovation works at scale, which could shape future environmental regulations. This is a concrete attempt to turn sustainability ambition into infrastructure across the fashion industry.
