Amazon has signed a 600MW power purchase agreement with Skyborn Renewables for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. The deal is Amazon's largest single carbon-free energy agreement in Germany and brings its total corporate renewable portfolio in the country to over 1.3GW across 12 projects. Gennaker will add up to 976.5MW of offshore wind capacity once complete, making it the largest wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. The project will use 63 turbines of 15MW each and is located 15 km north of the Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula. Construction is expected to start after financial close in summer 2026, with operations targeted for late 2028. The wind farm is projected to generate enough electricity to power over 1 million German homes annually. Amazon remains Europe's largest corporate buyer of carbon-free energy. This PPA signals strong demand from major tech companies for long-term renewable contracts in Europe. It also provides a stable revenue stream for offshore wind developers facing rising costs and permitting delays.
