Amazon signs 600 MW offshore wind PPA in Germany, its largest single carbon-free energy deal in the country
dredgewire.comAmazon has signed a 600 MW power purchase agreement with Skyborn Renewables for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. This is the largest single PPA ever signed in Germany and one of the biggest in Europe. The deal gives Skyborn the revenue certainty to build the project, which will add up to 976.5 MW of offshore wind capacity and is expected to power over one million German households annually once operational in late 2028. The Gennaker wind farm will use 63 turbines rated at 15 MW each and represents roughly EUR 3 billion in investment for the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Construction is set to begin after financial close in summer 2026. Amazon's total German carbon-free energy portfolio now exceeds 1.3 GW across 12 projects. The company remains Europe's largest corporate buyer of carbon-free energy and is targeting net-zero emissions by 2040 under its Climate Pledge.
