Amazon has signed a power purchase agreement with Statkraft for 36MW of capacity from the Mossy Hill wind farm near Lerwick in Shetland, Scotland. The project is expected to come online in 2030. The deal gives Statkraft enough certainty to move the development forward. Amazon now has more than 50 carbon-free energy agreements in the UK, totaling over 1GW. Most are rooftop solar on Amazon logistics estates, with the rest split between off-site wind and solar. Earlier this year Amazon signed a separate 90MW onshore wind PPA for the Chirmorie Wind Farm in South Ayrshire. Corporate PPAs like this are one of the main financing tools for new renewable capacity. They don't just offset consumption, they help developers reach final investment decision. The 2030 start date is late, but it still adds firm demand for UK wind power.
