Amazon Partners with The Good Rice Alliance for Methane Reduction Credits in India

Amazon has signed a long-term agreement to purchase methane-reducing carbon credits from The Good Rice Alliance in India. The deal targets over 685,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent by implementing sustainable rice farming techniques like Alternate Wetting and Drying and Direct Seeded Rice. Supported by Bayer CropScience, the initiative works with 13,000 smallholder farmers to reduce water use by up to 30 percent and lower methane emissions. The project uses Verra's Verified Carbon Standard and field-based measurements to ensure high-integrity credit generation.
