Amazon is backing 700 MW of carbon-free energy in Nevada to support its growing data center operations in Reno. The plan includes a 100 MW geothermal portfolio from Zanskar to provide baseload power, alongside 600 MW of solar and 600 MW of battery storage from Primergy. This strategy focuses on adding firm, around-the-clock capacity to the NV Energy grid by 2030. By combining geothermal's reliability with solar and storage flexibility, Amazon aims to meet high-load demands without passing infrastructure costs to local ratepayers.
