Almarai Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Regional Voluntary Carbon Market Company (VCM) during the CMF Select Red Sea 2026 event in Riyadh. The MoU lets Almarai explore buying, selling, and sourcing carbon credits on VCM's platform, which is backed by the Public Investment Fund and Saudi Tadawul Group. VCM has already traded over 15 million tons of carbon credits since its launch in 2022. This move aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and net zero goals. Almarai becomes one of the early participants in the Kingdom's voluntary carbon market. The company can also look into generating carbon credits from its own sustainability projects. The MoU is a signal that large Saudi corporates are starting to engage with the domestic carbon market infrastructure being built by VCM.
