Allied Biofuels has contracted Topsoe and Sasol to provide technology for a proposed biorefinery in Uzbekistan's Khorezm Region. The complex will use captured CO2 and green hydrogen to produce over 300,000 tonnes per year of synthetic and sustainable aviation fuel. The project also includes 4.45 GW of renewable power, 1.6 GWh of battery storage, and 2.4 GW of electrolyzers for hydrogen production. The plant aims to supply rising SAF demand driven by regulations like the EU's ReFuelEU Aviation mandate. A final investment decision is expected in 2027, with commercial operations targeted for 2030. If built, it would be Central Asia's first integrated biorefinery and could position Uzbekistan as a hub for low-carbon fuel production.
