Bhopal-based startup AlgaeTree has developed a street-side bioreactor that uses microalgae to absorb CO2 and filter particulate matter from urban air. The units are solar-powered and automated, designed to improve local air quality in smart city corridors and public parks. Each unit reportedly removes up to 700kg of CO2 annually while reducing local PM2.5 and PM10 levels. The system integrates IoT monitoring and AI to optimize algae growth and carbon sequestration in real time.
